Where to ride

Plain answers on where to go and what to take. For the day’s conditions, ask at the shed. We ride these all year.

Nevis Range & the Witch’s Trails

The famous one. World-cup downhill off the gondola and the Witch’s Trails network in the forest below. Real reds and blacks, plus a blue that’s a decent first taste of singletrack. The hardtails handle the Witch’s blues better than folk expect.

Take:
Full-suspension, or an e-MTB for two laps in one. We don’t hire for the reds to under-14s. (Full-suspension)
Getting there:
Fifteen minutes’ pedal from the shed on the cycle path. No car needed.

Leanachan Forest

Miles of easy forest road and gentle singletrack under the Ben. This is the family day out. Picnic spots and red squirrels if you’re quiet, and nothing there will scare anyone.

Take:
Hardtails and kids’ bikes. The trailer rolls fine on the forest roads. (Hardtails)
Getting there:
Ride out through Torlundy. Twenty minutes, nearly all of it traffic-free.

The Great Glen Way

Fort William to Inverness. 66 miles of towpath and loch-side forest track, with one honest climb above Loch Ness. Two days if you’re flying, three if you’re looking at things.

Take:
The e-tourer with panniers, or the gravel bike if you like earning it. (E-bikes)
Getting there:
It starts at the Old Fort, five minutes from us. We’ll talk you through baggage.

Caledonian Canal towpath

Corpach to Gairlochy and back past Neptune’s Staircase. Dead flat, and the best view of the Ben you’ll get without climbing anything.

Take:
Anything. This is the tag-along and trailer run. (Family kit)
Getting there:
Cross the road, you’re on it.
